Robbie Ellett

I’m a Mental Health Occupational Therapist and provide 1:1 support for neurodivergent clients and also provide clinical supervision to the Neurodivergent Empowered team and their group sessions. With over 15 years’ experience in adolescent and adult mental health, my approach is neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-aware, and grounded in lived experience. I blend EMDR, ACT, MBT, movement, and nature-based practices to support people navigating ADHD, trauma, and life’s complexities. Therapy with me is real, embodied, and human — focused on creating safety, connection, and self-trust, not fixing people.

I bring a calm, grounded presence to every space I work in. Whether I’m supporting a teen in Phoenix Connections, running a sensory-based art group, or using storytelling and play in roleplay-based sessions, I use creativity and connection to support regulation and foster authentic self-expression. I feel most alive in nature — hiking, swimming, journaling, or sleeping under the stars — and I carry that grounded, reflective energy into my work. As a neurodivergent person myself (ADHD-inattentive), I care deeply about creating spaces where people feel safe to unmask and be fully themselves. Working with Neurodivergent Empowered is an extension of those values — a place where difference is celebrated, and healing is truly human.

Things I am currently passionate about / current interests

Nature & Simplicity

I feel most alive when I’m off-grid—sleeping under the stars, hiking remote tracks, being at the beach, or learning bushcraft skills that bring me closer to the natural world. It’s where I recharge, reflect, and return to what really matters. Nature keeps me grounded, humble, and open.

Creative Expression & Connection

Music, movement, deep chats, shared laughs—I’m drawn to the kind of expression that brings people closer to themselves and each other. I value honesty, humour, and being able to hold the heavy stuff with lightness and care.

Curiosity & Movement

I’m naturally curious and always learning—about ideas, people, and how to live in a way that actually feels good. Physical movement, meditation, journaling, and moments of stillness all help me stay connected to what matters.

Why I am about passionate about the work I do:

I’m passionate about this work because I know what it feels like to move through the world with a neurodivergent brain in spaces that weren’t built with us in mind. As someone with ADHD-inattentive presentation, I’ve experienced firsthand the toll of masking and the deep need for environments where we can show up as our full selves. I’ve spent over 15 years working in adolescent and adult mental health, and what keeps me going is the opportunity to help people feel safe, seen, and celebrated — not pathologised.

I believe healing happens through connection, creativity, and being met with honesty and care. Whether it’s through nature, movement, storytelling, or quiet reflection, I’m drawn to the kind of work that helps people reconnect with who they are beneath the layers of coping. Working with Neurodivergent Empowered allows me to live those values — supporting people in ways that feel real, human, and grounded in what actually works for them.

The Pokèmon character that best describes me is Rockruff...

Umbreon is calm, steady, and moves through the world with quiet confidence. It’s not loud or flashy, but it’s deeply protective, loyal, and aware. It feels like a good reflection of the way I work - attuned, grounded, and not afraid of the dark stuff, but always holding space for growth.
